We were looking for the Italian Dolce Vita, the one that ever today stirs cinema and poetry for the yearning of the world - we found it here, on the smallest lake in Lombardy, Lake Iseo, aboard a Riva Aquarama.
It's about cinema - Cinerama was a very popular film format in the 1960s, it is the name that inspired the Aquarama motorboat: its wraparound windshield offers a panoramic view of the water reminiscent of large screens: Aquarama means seeing on water.
At Corte Franca, Bellini Nautica of the Bellini family exhibits the most complete Riva d’Epoca Private Collection in the world - there are 17 vintage models, including one-offs, starting with the very first Riva Racer from 1920.
On the waters of Lake Iseo, on board a Riva Aquarama we found the Dolce Vita. A dip towards the beach of the ravine of Bogn di Zorzino, it is there that the Sebino wedges itself between steep vertical walls, green mountains that seem to be cut with a knife in the limestone of Zù.
Lunch is served in the Riva Privé of the Spirito Divino Osteria. The interior is a déjà-vu - the lacquered mahogany of Riva table and chairs, the black and white photographs of La Dolce Vita, the aquamarine cushions, a window overlooking the lake.
